sketches

Some more sketches from the academy. Great times here, my mind is being blown every day!
Here are some sketches, one for fun, some gestures for a final piece (with James Jean copies in there), and the early sketch for the painting below.

I had a great time in NY! I went for a Society of Illustrators function. After reviewing my work and other terrific student illustrators I was awarded the 2008 Zankel Scholarship from a panel of illustrators and AD's. I feel very lucky since the other artists (Sam, Cassandra, and David) are extremely talented. There should be an official announcement on the Society website soon.

portrait

Hey guys. Sorry for the slow posts, I've a lot to keep me busy lately...I'm not complaining!! I'll throw up this painting (oil with a few digital tweaks I did at the Illustration Academy) before I head to New York for the next couple of days. It's a portrait of the white slave from Puddnhead Wilson by Mark Twain.

Leyendecker exhibit here I come!!!!!
