A real treat this post! Recently came across great photos of Sorolla's murals at the Hispanic Society of America in New York City. Sorolla was commissioned by Archer M. Huntington in 1911 to paint 14 large scale (twelve to fourteen feet tall) paintings to be installed at the Society. It took Sorolla 8 exhausting years to complete the monumental project.
The last image is a nice detail shot to show the brushwork Sorolla was working with. That's a very small detail from the painting above it. Wow! Here are a few more links to galleries containing hi resolution shots of these paintings: 1 2 3 4

Beautiful. I remember doing a Sorolla mastercopy at school and realizing I knew nothing about color. It's always nice to have a reminder ;)
Is the artwork/mural still on view in NY city??
Beautiful stuff.
Haha, thanks so much for these pics and links. I don't know where you find this stuff, but I'm grateful for it.
Just bring me nourishment and I could live in these museums.
Is it just me or does the detail at the very end of the post loo very reminiscent of Scott Burdick's work?

Bhanu: I do believe it is still on view!
Daniel: It does feel similar. I'm thinking of a piece Scott painted of an African boy or girl, you're right!
