Accordions and Politics!

Hope everyone is well! So the first image is a commission for an exciting collaborative project. I really recommend checking out the blog with the other images. A lot of great artists have submitted a piece, it was an honor to be asked! So I thought I'd take advantage of the loose guidelines and use some wax!!! I love that stuff! The second image is another commission. I was asked to draw politicians as members of the Fantastic Four. I have McCain, Obama, Clinton, Romney, Huckabee, and Barr in there. It's not completely up to date since I originally started it a while ago, but just recently finished it.

take care,
-francis

Definitely something good happening for you with wax. Look into this Encaustic painter I had as a teacher, Carmelo Blandino.

His website is http://www.blandino.ca/

You'll enjoy it.

Great blog. Glad I found your stuff on CA. Yeah I agree, Repin is amazing - those Russian guys in general really had something. I like Zorn too - I'm sure you know him if you don't I found a great site here: http://www.zorn.se/engmain.html

Sorry I deleted the last post - couldn't get it to display with my name properly, hope this works!

NICE man! I love the textures in the first piece. I like the juxtaposition of the realistically rendered face with the more sketchy drawn accordion. Those colors are rock'n too! Great job.

Hows it going man? That accordion guy is amazing, love the textures and looseness of the piece. What medium is it? Is it a mix of oil and ink. Its doing justice for you. By far the best piece I've seen. Keep it up man!

McCain as the Thing, priceless. The first piece has a really cool feel and style to it. The use of an ink under drawing and the thick to thin paint, nice touch. Kruger does something like that with Acrylic, but I like the color palette you used, keeps a good balance with the hard ink lines. keep up the good work :]

Wow that first piece is killer. The loose quality and the spontaneity in it is really working for you. Can't wait to see more pieces!
