I recently drew this picture from life during an impromptu portrait marathon in Kansas City. I was in town to work the 2011 Illustration Academy and TAD workshop. A great time!! The highlight was listening to Mark English talk about his pals Bob Heindel, Bernie Fuchs, Alan Cober, Bob Peak and others over a home cooked dinner. Dang!!

Also, I'll be in San Diego for Comic Con next week. Booth 5561 with George Pratt and Jon Foster in association with Studio 2nd Street and The Art Department. Stop by and say yo!

take care,
francis

Gorgeous. Nice value control, and I'm glad you didn't super render every part. Also, she looks about as tired as I feel!

Francis,

It is a great little portrait, your edge control is great, and how you are using tone to describe color is sweet!

Have you heard of Illuxcon? I was thinking of going, but had to bail on this year. I am definetley planning on making it out there next time... next time, there is always next time. Famous last words, eh?

This is my new favorite thing... seriously. I love that the lamp is in there and creating such a fun composition. I love the expression on the girls face and of course the value/edge control are fantastic.
